The UpCircle Cleansing Face Milk - Your questions answered!

  • 3 min read

As a brand, we’ve always held our ethics close and made sure that they are reflected in every single product we make. Our Cleansing Face Milk is no different – housed in a glass bottle and a cardboard outer box, our natural, dermatologically approved and cruelty-free Cleansing Face Milk uses upcycled oat powder that repairs and restores the skin barrier, unlike many harsh chemical cleansers.

Here are common questions asked about our Cleansing Face Milk:

What is a Cleansing Face Milk?

Known for its milky texture and appearance, a cleansing milk is a water-based face wash suitable for everyday use. It is incredibly lightweight and gentle, yet still highly effective to free your face from grime, sweat and makeup while keeping the skin free of impurities.

What is the benefit of upcycled oat powder?

Our Cleansing Face Milk is made from upcycled oat powder that repairs and restores the skin barrier. The polysaccharides restore the moisture barrier whilst antioxidants protect the epidermis from free radical damage. Oats are a real superhero ingredient in this product as they contain natural ceramides that can soothe inflamed and irritated skin. The effect that oats have on the skin can be instant, so no waiting around for this skincare product to produce results! The oats we upcycle are oat hulls from the food and drink industry. Oat hulls are a by-product of oat processing, and may otherwise be discarded, burned, or used for animal feed. We rescue these hulls for a very different purpose, to harness their skin-loving qualities.

What is the difference between our Cleansing Face Balm and Cleansing Face Milk?

In simple terms, our Cleansing Face Balm is an oil-based cleanser and our Cleansing Face Milk is a water-based cleanser. But what does that mean? Water-based cleansers are lightweight and designed to eliminate water-based impurities like dirt and sweat. On the other hand, oil-based cleansers are specifically formulated to get rid of oil-based impurities such as sebum, SPF and makeup.

Do I need the Cleansing Face Milk if I have the Cleansing Face Balm?

Absolutely! You can still get the wonderful skin benefits of using both individually but to get the ultimate glowy and fully cleansed skin, using both cleansers together, also known as double cleansing is the way forward! Read more about the benefits of double cleansing and how to here.

Where does this fit in my skincare routine?

This should be used after the Cleansing Face Balm or an oil based cleanser. Please refer to the image below for reference:

Is it suitable for acne prone skin?

Yes! The cleanser is formulated with non-comedogenic sunflower oil which prevents breakouts as well as almond oil which has anti-inflammatory properties to calm acne inflammation and irritation. Almond oil is also rich in zinc which is essential for acne scar healing.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes! In fact, it is the perfect cleanser for sensitive skin! Our cleanser is dermatologically approved and formulated with upcycled oat powder that works with (not against) the natural skin barrier to gently cleanse and protect the skin. In addition, it is also formulated with soothing jojoba oil which is packed with antioxidants and minerals that provide deep hydration throughout the skin barrier.

Is the Cleansing Face Milk refillable?

Absolutely! We pride ourselves on being an elevated beauty brand that’s better for you AND the planet. Our Cleansing Face Milk not only comes housed in 100% recyclable packaging, but it can also be purchased as part of our refill scheme at 20% off. Good for the world. Good for you. Good for your pockets. What a good idea.
