Simple skincare routine

Are you looking for a simple skin care routine that’s natural, straightforward and absolutely not convoluted? If so, this article is for you. We’ve created a simple daily skin care routine split into morning and evening so that you can look after your skin, look and feel your best, but not require countless products and time to stick to it!

Your skin care routine should suit your skin and your lifestyle. Don’t overcomplicate things and make sure you choose all-natural ingredients that uphold your values.

Why choose a simple skin care routine?

We’re all time poor, but we all need to give ourselves some TLC both in terms of our skin and our wellbeing. A simple skin care routine means there’s more chance you’ll stick to it, letting it become a habit. What’s more, a simple skin care routine is usually best for sensitive skin, which doesn’t need over-preening. That said, a simple routine can work for all skin types.

What’s more, choosing products which are natural and have simple ingredients that are proven to nurture your skin will make you feel incredible.

We’ve split our daily routine in half: morning and night. Each part has just four steps.

Simple morning skin care routine

Wake up, it’s a beautiful morning! A morning skin care routine needs to be reviving, awakening and speedy. It’s about starting your day feeling fresh and bright, giving yourself the best chance of a wonderful day ahead.

1. Cleanse

In the morning, your first step is a simple cleanse. Choose a purifying gentle cleanser that will put a spring in your step.

The Cinnamon + Ginger Chai Soap Bar is perfect for the job. Its zingy spicy scent is fabulous for a morning wake-up call, gently reviving your tired skin. The pink clay calms any irritation that has developed overnight, and it has gentle exfoliating properties. Simply create lather with warm water, wash and rinse.

2. Tone

After cleansing, we highly recommend using a toner rich in hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural ingredient, perfect for plumping the skin and ensuring you look and feel fresh-faced for the day ahead. Use a cleansing pad, the spritz spray, or simply your fingertips, to sweep the toner over your skin.

Our Face Toner with Mandarin + Chamomile uses calming repurposed chamomile and revitalising green mandarin fruit extract to balance, moisturise, brighten and refresh.

3. Moisturise

Nearly ready for the day, your face will benefit from applying a day cream to nourish and hydrate it.

Choose a fast-absorbing moisturiser like our Face Moisturiser with Argan Powder. All-natural and made using the fine powder of discarded argan shells; this is an ideal morning moisturiser for all skin types.

4. Serum

Serum is your daily wonder stuff when it comes to feeling amazing! It’s the perfect way to round off your morning skin care routine. It locks in the moisturiser and helps boost collagen.

We like to shout from the rooftops about our Organic Face Serum with Coffee Oil – with good reason. It’s won multiple awards and is bursting with the benefits of rosehip and sea buckthorn oil, as well as antioxidant-rich coffee. It’ll leave your skin vibrant and ready for the day.

5. SPF

The final step in your morning skincare routine – and one that’s too easily forgotten – is to apply a good SPF. This applies even when it’s not a sunny summer’s day. Whenever you’re outside, or even near a window, your skin is exposed to UV radiation. SPF helps to protect your skin from these rays, keeping it healthy and youthful!

Here at UpCircle, we have been working hard on a new SPF product. It’s taking a while because we want to get the formula just right. We’re hoping to launch by the end of the year, so watch this space!

Simple night skin care routine

You’ve lived the day and your skin has got through everything you’ve thrown at it. Committing to a simple night skin care routine will help to wash away the day, leave you feeling relaxed for sleep, and reduce the effects of daily living on your skin.

1. Cleanse 1

Cleansing at the end of the day should focus on removing make-up as well as any dirt, pollution and excess oil from the day.

Perfect for a gentle cleanse, removing makeup and leaving your skin feeling beautifully soft is our Cleansing Face Balm with Apricot Powder. It’s rich in vitamin E and also gives you a real sense of being pampered; something we all need at the end of the day.

2. Cleanse 2

Having got rid of all the dirt, it’s time to go for another cleanse to really ensure you’re going to bed with clean pores. Lather up a Chai Soap Bar – this time we recommend Chocolate Charcoal. Its detoxifying nature is perfect for an evening cleanse. The activated charcoal will tighten your pores for the night ahead, helping to ensure you don’t wake up with fresh pimples in the morning!

3. Eye cream

If the skin around your eyes is looking tired, then now’s the time to apply some soothing eye cream. Dab your eye cream onto the skin gently, as the skin around your eyes is very delicate.

With hyaluronic acid, our Eye Cream with Maple and Coffee soothes and plumps the skin around your eyes, often the area most in need of intensive moisturising. We’re sure you’ll love it so much that you’ll want to include it in your morning routine too – that’s no problem, just apply it before your moisturiser!

4. Moisturise

Finishing off your evening skin care routine with a divine moisturiser will keep your skin hydrated overnight and ensure it feels wonderful and relaxed for the night ahead. By choosing a light moisturiser, like the Face Moisturiser with Argan Powder, you can apply it generously for optimal night time nurturing without clogging your pores. What’s more, by using the same moisturiser as you use in the morning, it keeps things brilliantly simple.

Love your routine!

Morning and evening skin care routines needn’t be complex. If they are, you tend to end up skipping them. Instead, focus on the elements which are worth their weight in gold, enjoy the pampering start and end to your day, and love making a habit of it. By opting for simple routines and simple products, your skin will thank you.
