A celebration of natural skin texture

  • 4 min read

We are embracing our societal move away from the airbrushed look. Our natural skin texture is just one part of what makes us imperfectly attractive. We believe that everyone should celebrate their natural skin texture and it’s about time too.

We also know that considering your skin texture is important when choosing your skin care. We’ll go as far as saying there’s no such thing as bad skin texture, but we know you may have bumps, wrinkles or dimples that you want to choose the right skincare for.

Skin texture is unique

Your skin texture is unique. From grainy skin texture on your face to rough skin on your arms – it varies from person to person, and it varies on you. Nourishing and caring for your own skin texture involves choosing natural products designed for your skin type.

Protection should always be your primary aim with skin care. Fundamentally, it’s your skin texture that comes into play here. Typically, skin problems arise when you’re trying to use skin care processes and products which aren’t suited to your natural skin texture.

So, how can you protect your skin texture?

Exfoliation

Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells that sit on the surface of your skin. The dead skin cells act as a trap for dirt and excess oil, and can exacerbate a bumpy skin texture. However, when you exfoliate regularly you can improve your skin tone and texture, smoothing it and giving it a burst of radiance.

However, different skin requires different approaches to exfoliation. Some need a more stringent and intense exfoliation, whilst other textures are better protected using a light and gentle exfoliation.

For all skin types we recommend natural, vegan exfoliators. At UpCircle we have a range of Natural Exfoliating Scrubs which are suitable for different skin types.

Coffee Face Scrub – Citrus Blend

All of our face and body scrubs use repurposed coffee grounds which is a fabulous natural exfoliator. The Citrus Blend is excellent if you have a dry or rough skin texture. It will buff away the dead skin cells but it also contains rosehip oil and Shea butter to deliver locked-in moisture. The orange oil is naturally antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, whilst the lemon verbena oil improves the skin’s tone.

Coffee Face Scrub – Herbal Blend

Again, using the repurposed coffee grounds base, our Herbal Blend Scrub is ideal for those with a bumpy or grainy skin texture on the face caused by breakouts. This scrub contains tea tree oil which is a natural antiseptic and this helps to tackle spots. The rosemary, thyme and petit grain don’t just smell divine, but they also offer additional antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. This scrub will help you celebrate your natural skin texture whilst also smoothing out the problem areas.

Coffee Face Scrub – Floral Blend

The Floral Blend is suited to those with more sensitive skin. The Shea butter locks in hydration, keeping your skin smooth and supple. The chamomile, rosehip, geranium and patchouli essential oils are soothing, helping to calm any red or aggravated texture. Indeed, if you have a red bumpy skin texture from skin concerns like rosacea or psoriasis, this scrub will really help, as it’s rich in vitamins E and B.

Moisturiser

Moisturisers
help nurture your skin and smooth out any uneven skin texture. Again, you need to choose a moisturiser which celebrates your skin texture. We’ve worked hard to develop an excellent natural moisturiser for all skin types. We’ve created one for your face and one for your body.

Face Moisturiser with Argan Powder

Winner of the Beauty Shortlist Awards 2021, our Face Moisturiser is a fast-absorbing cream with the fine powder of vitamin E rich discarded argan shells. It also contains soothing cocoa butter, Aloe Vera and blood orange to help bring out the best texture of your skin.

Soothing Body Cream with Date Seeds

Winner of the Eco Hero category in the Get The Gloss Beauty and Wellness Awards 2020, this Hydrating Body Cream is perfect for a hit of moisturisation. Leftover date seeds are naturally anti-inflammatory and help to soothe your skin, leaving it hydrated and calm. Nonetheless, it is still light enough, even if you have oily skin.

Skincare and makeup products for different skin texture

When it comes to going beyond your cleansing and soothing rituals, often we turn to makeup to minimise our unique skin texture. We pile on layer upon layer of primers and concealers to cover up one of our best features! We really want to reassure everyone that, finally, the trend is turning – natural is being recognised as the true mainstay of beauty. The novelty of Instagram filters is wearing thin and instead, people are beginning to truly celebrate the differences in skin texture that simply adds to natural beauty.

As such, over the coming years we anticipate that makeup practices will be less about eliminating the differences in skin texture and more about celebrating them. There will probably always be a desire for a smooth skin texture, but dimpled and freckled skin will very much have its place. It’s therefore important that you choose the makeup and skincare which shows off your skin, rather than purely covers it up.

At UpCircle, we love showing you before and after shots on our social media channels. We’re hoping that this will enable everyone to appreciate the right natural products to improve skin texture, whilst also having the confidence to show off their natural beauty.

Whatever your skin texture is, it’s worth celebrating.
