*outofoffice* at climate strike

  • 2 min read

"Adults keep saying we owe it to the young people, to give them hope, but I don't want your hope. I don't want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel everyday. I want you to act. I want you to act as if you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if the house is on fire, because it is." Greta Thunberg

Today, team UpCircle is out in London at the Westminster strike. The time is now, and we need to make a stand. If you can't strike today, then find your own way to strike every day - get your bicycle out of the shed, reduce your meat and dairy intake, learn to love second-hand clothing (it's not hard, thrifting is where it's at!!) However you do it, the time is now to make a change.

For those of you who don't know - here's a little detail on what this is all about...

Climate strike - what is it?

Climate strike is an international movement involving demonstrations to demand action to prevent further global warming and climate change.

This week will be historic. Between 20-27 September, in over 150 countries, people are stepping up to support young climate strikers and demand an end to the age of fossil fuels.

How can I get involved ?

Use this website https://globalclimatestrike.net to find the strike closest to you and stand up and shout for change.

Spread the word by mouth and on social media. Use the hashtag #climatestrike to join the community.

Share a selfie with the above hashtag - Take a photo or record a quick video of yourself holding a sign / explaining why you’re going to take part and organise with them.

Share it on your Instagram or Facebook story, or tweet it out. Be bold and be loud.

What else can I do?

Damon Gameau award winning filmmaker has released a new film called 2040. It is a journey to explore what the world could look like by 2040 if we simply embraced the solutions already available to us to improve the planet and shifted them into the mainstream. Thought provoking and heartfelt (it is structured as a visual letter to his 4 year old daughter) we hope the more attention the film gets the greater the impetus for change. Follow the 2040 insta @2040film for inspiring facts and updates.

Also if you can’t attend the march follow superstar @_sarahwilson_ who has a plethora of info on her channel!

We are now officially... OUTOFOFFICE!
