7 benefits of using face oil

  • 4 min read

Somehow face oil benefits seem to be one of beauty’s best kept secrets at the moment! But they shouldn’t be a secret; everyone should know exactly why they want that little bottle of golden goodness in their beauty regime. Fortunately, we’re here to share with you the top benefits of using a Face Oil.

What is a face oil?

Oils are divinely smooth and thin, able deliver a concentrated amount of active ingredients and lock in moisture. The oil-base isn’t cloying but it enables the ingredients to really penetrate the surface of the skin, ensuring they are effective whilst also protecting your skin from the impact of daily living.

The obvious thought is that surely you don’t need moisturiser and face oil? The benefits of face oil differ slightly from moisturiser and we firmly believe that both have a valuable place in your skincare routine. If your face oil is completely oil-based then we advise using your oil last to lock in all of the wonderful effects of your other cleansing and nourishing products.

Face oil benefits

Some brands will try to sell you a heap of different types of oils, claiming different ones for different skin types. We’ve come up with a universal Face Oil with Coffee Extract which is ideal for all skin types, bringing the benefits to everyone. Without further ado, here are our 7 top benefits of using face oil:

1. Intense absorption

How often do you pop on moisturiser in the bathroom in the morning, only to come downstairs and feel dried out or that the moisturiser is just sitting on the surface? It can feel like it’s never quite right.

Face serum has a wonderfully light formulation which is very easy for the skin to absorb. Its thin viscosity means that, with minimal fuss, your skin will quite happily absorb the oil. Not only does this deliver the active ingredients of the oil, it also paves the way for helping your skin to absorb the benefits of your moisturiser.

In short, if you want to maximise the benefits of everything you put on your skin, face oil is the answer.

2. Nourishing and soothing

It’s easy to overlook the self-care aspect of your beauty regime. Yes it’s important in terms of your physical wellbeing, but it’s also an important part of your overall process of being kind to yourself.

Face oil will soothe those sensitive patches of skin, but it’ll also prove to be very soothing just to apply. It’s a really tactile process. Even if your skin is prone to oiliness or outbreaks, a face oil soothes the skin and helps to make you feel loved and cherished.

3. It’s a collagen booster

Face oil gives the collagen in your skin a boost, helping to keep it firm and plumping out fine lines and wrinkles. Fine lines and wrinkles are a normal part of skin maturation, but it is dullness and dryness which makes them seem ageing.

By using a oil, your skin will be more radiant and full of colour. It’ll be less dry, and fine lines and wrinkles simply look characterful and smoother, rather than a sign that you are tired and worn out.

4. Protection against the world

Think of face oil as gentle armour, protecting your face from the harmful effects of daily living. Being oil-based, our face oil is jam-packed with active ingredients which protect your skin from free radicals resulting from air pollution or sun damage.

Oils are typically rich in antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin E. You can’t easily avoid the free radicals which lead to skin damage and the signs of premature ageing, but you can protect it if you use oils.

5. It’s fast and visible

Beauty regimes can be painfully slow to show results. You lose momentum and give up before you start to reap the benefits. Whilst delivering an instantaneous smoothness, you also get faster results compared to other skincare products. This is because serum is highly-concentrated and easily absorbed.

If you’re looking for a skincare product that will make you feel like it is working straight away, then face oil is it.

6. It’s light and not cloying

When you hear that something is oil-based it can make you worried that it will clog your pores or leave you feeling greasy. The reality is that with some oil-based skincare this is the truth. It’s not the case with face oil.

Face oil has a viscosity that makes it feel a little more like silky water than oil itself. It’s very light, it won’t feel greasy at all, even if you struggle with greasy skin. Plus, just because you have oily skin does not mean you should avoid oily products. Quite the opposite actually – depriving your skin of oil can cause it to overcompensate with oil production, leading to a vicious cycle.

We recommend that you use the serum in the evening evening after cleansing, as you should with any other product which you are leaving on your skin. Try our Chai Soap Bar cleansers to ensure your skin is clean before applying oils.

7. Hydrating

As you know, moisturiser can really feel like it’s a short-lasting hit. It has its place, particularly morning and night. But to really benefit from the hydrating effects of your moisturiser, and to feel like your skin is blissfully hydrated all day long, you need an oil.

It’s down to the light oil nature which keeps moisture in. Your skin can still breathe but it doesn’t dry out so easily.
