New Deodorant FAQs!

  • 3 min read

Get to know the product that was our most eagerly-anticipated product drop for 2024 - our Deodorant! This launch has turned out to be our biggest bodycare launch of all time, and we gathered the questions that you asked along the way. Without further ado...

1. What is the difference between a natural Deodorant and an Antiperspirant?

Natural Deodorant: Formulated to neutralise odours without blocking sweat glands, allowing your body to sweat naturally while keeping you fresh.

Antiperspirant: Contains aluminium compounds that physically block sweat glands, reducing perspiration.

We chose to make a deodorant as opposed to an antiperspirant because, from our research, most people prefer deodorants to avoid aluminium, due to concerns about potential health risks (although not scientifically proven) and skin irritation. Deodorants are more gentle on the skin.

Although not sweat-blocking, our deodorant is moisture-absorbing as it contains corn starch. I.e. It does not prevent sweat because it’s aluminium-free, but it will help minimise moisture and keep you dry.

2. How do you apply the Deodorant?

Apply a small amount to clean, dry underarms, using gentle circular motions for even coverage. Let it absorb for a moment before getting dressed. Try not to apply too much deodorant! Overapplying can lead to transfer onto clothes and cause white marks.

3. Is the Deodorant suitable for those who experience excess sweating?

While it helps neutralise odours, it may not prevent excessive sweating like an antiperspirant. However, its moisture-absorbing ingredients can provide comfort.

4. Does the deodorant leave marks on clothing?

If you use too much deodorant, it might transfer to your clothes and leave a mark. However, our deodorant won’t cause stains after washing unless it’s overapplied. So remember, a little goes a long way and more is not better in this instance. For stubborn deodorant marks, try removing them with vinegar or baking soda – natural solutions for a natural deodorant! Yellow stains are usually caused by antiperspirants containing aluminium salts. Our Deodorant is aluminium-free, so there is no cause for it to leave yellow staining.

5. Does my body require time to get used to a natural Deodorant?

Yes, an adjustment period is common as your body detoxifies from previous antiperspirants. This can last a few days to a couple of weeks, with some users reporting initial increased sweating or odour.

6. What is upcycled prickly pear extract and why is it good for your skin?

Upcycled prickly pear extract is derived from the fruit that would otherwise go to waste. It is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and hydration properties, helping to soothe and nourish the skin.

7. What do you mean when you describe the deodorant as baking soda-free?

Baking soda-free means that sodium bicarbonate, which can cause irritation for some, is not included in the formula, making it suitable for sensitive skin types.

8. Can a deodorant be aluminium-free if it's in an aluminium case?

Yes, "aluminium-free" refers to the absence of aluminium compounds in the formulation itself, not the packaging. The product can still be packaged in aluminium without containing harmful aluminium ingredients.

9. What does it smell like?

We've called the scent "Fresh Citrus" it has refreshing notes of bergamot and lime. Customers have also described it as smelling like sherbet, lemonade and key lime pie!

10. Is the Deodorant refillable?

Yes! This is our first globally refillable product. The idea is that for your first purchase of the deodorant you buy the metal outer tube, which comes with one deodorant insert, and from that point on you purchase just a refill insert. The refill will arrive like a normal order and you pop it into your outer tube. The packaging for the refill insert is 100% paper.

You should not ever return your metal tube to us, but instead refill it yourself using the refill insert at home.

11. Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes, it’s suitable for sensitive or irritation-prone skin.

12. How long will one refill cartridge last?

Approximately one month. If you subscribe to our Deodorant you'll receive 3 refills every 3 months to keep you stocked up!

Our Deodorant is officially available to purchase. Click here to shop!
