Simplify your routine with multi use skincare

  • 5 min read

As we settle into the new year, what better time to start approaching your skincare routine with more consistency? While you may still be on a journey to accepting your wonderful skin, you don’t have to love it – we embrace skin neutrality at UpCircle – but you do have to take care of it.

Instead of worrying about dealing with dozens of products, why not opt for some multi use skincare products that are not only easier on your wallet or purse, but also help to simplify your routine?

Multi-benefit skincare ingredients

Before we talk about multi use skincare products, it’s important to consider what kind of ingredients you should be looking for in those products. Many skincare ingredients are known to have multiple benefits, so using multi use products that are formulated with these ingredients can help you to make the most of what they can do for your skin.

Vitamin E

You probably know by now that skincare vitamins are important to ensure your skin is as healthy and protected as it can be. A really versatile skincare vitamin that can be found in multi use skincare products is vitamin E.

It’s also suitable for different skin types. If you struggle with acne and breakout-prone skin, vitamin E in your multi use skincare can also reduce the oxidation of sebum in your pores – helping to prevent blackheads.

High in antioxidants which help to boost your circulation, vitamin E is often used in skincare for its ability to help the skin appear more youthful and firm. Antioxidants help to prevent damage being caused to the skin by free radicals, as well as other environmental factors.

Vitamin E oil can even help to absorb the sun’s harmful UV rays when applied topically to minimise damage to the skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots caused by UV rays. However, this is never a substitute for using a high performance SPF with UVA and UVB protection daily, come rain or shine.

This ingredient is often incorporated into the formulation of creams and moisturisers due to the intensely hydrating properties of vitamin E.

Niacinamide

This ingredient is probably best known for its acne-busting properties, but that isn’t all that niacinamide has to offer your skin.

Niacinamide has the ability to reduce the skin’s production of sebum, which helps to prevent your pores from becoming blocked and feeling stretched. As a result, using niacinamide-rich products can help your skin texture to be visibly smoother.

This ingredient helps to protect your skin’s important natural barrier by increasing your skin’s ability to retain moisture. Locking in moisture into the skin helps cells regenerate and reduce some of the visible signs of ageing.

Hyaluronic Acid

While hydration is usually considered to be the star of the show for hyaluronic acid, it’s important not to overlook benefits your skin can gain from this ingredient.

Hyaluronic acid helps to strengthen the skin’s natural barrier, which acts as the skin’s first line of defence against environmental aggressors. By adding enough moisture to the skin, the lipid barrier is better able to protect you.

If you’re looking for smooth skin, using a multi use skincare product with hyaluronic acid can help to make your skin feel as though it has a more even texture. While it won’t be able to combat pitting scars from acne, the micro crevasses that we all have tend to gradually lose their depth with regular hyaluronic acid application.

Multi use skincare products from UpCircle

1. Use face serum as cuticle oil, beard oil and hair oil

Our award-winning Organic Face Serum with Coffee Oil is full to the brim of skin-loving ingredients. Formulated with coffee oil from upcycled coffee grounds, our serum not only makes your skin glow, but can be used as a great nourishing beard oil or cuticle oil.

Sea buckthorn, rosehip and jojoba oils help make this serum so delightfully hydrating. Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidant-rich coffee, this serum is completely oil based, meaning that it works through occlusion. This is where a protective seal is formed over your skin, locking in the hydration.

Think about it, doesn’t the skin of your cuticles deserve the same love as the skin on your face? Dermatologically approved and suitable for all skin types, our serum makes an excellent cuticle oil substitute. To see this in action, head over to our Instagram.

Use this as a beard oil or a hair oil, and the jojoba oil in the formulation works to soften the hair whilst rosehip oil keeps the skin underneath healthy, reducing irritation. You can also see the product being used as a beard oil and hair oil on Instagram.

2. Eye cream as an under-eye mask

By applying a thicker layer of our Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid under the eyes and letting it sit for five to 10 minutes, you have yourself an under-eye mask.

Working to firm and protect the delicate eye area as well as reducing puffiness and helping to brighten dark circles, our fan-favourite eye cream is both vegan and cruelty-free.

This brightening eye cream is made with coffee oil extracted from upcycled coffee grounds and anti-inflammatory maple bark extract, a by-product of the wood industry. With hyaluronic acid to boost hydration, let the product sit on the skin and absorb its nourishing ingredients.

3. Lip balm as a universal salve

Intensely hydrating, our Lip Balm with Hemp Seed Oil is also formulated with shea butter, providing maximum nourishment for the skin.

It isn’t just the skin on your lips that can become dry, flaky or chapped. This balm works well as a universal salve, helping to moisturise and hydrate any particularly dry areas of skin, or on healed tattoos.

This balm is formulated using hemp seed oil, which is known to be a great source of vitamins A, C and E. The hemp seed oil we use in our lip balm is a responsibly sourced, linoleic-rich active oil with a standardised level of natural CBD. Proven to outperform standard hemp oil, the hemp seed oil used in our lip balm is a potent antioxidant and particularly ideal for dry, sensitive skin.

4. Get that glow by mixing moisturiser and tanning drops

Rich in vitamin E to boost collagen production, our award-winning Face Moisturiser helps to deeply nourish, soothe and balance the skin.

Mix in a few tanning drops to this delightful formulation and you’ll have a gorgeous glow to your skin. Just remember to choose tanning drops from a company that aligns with your ethical values.

5. Mix a few drops of serum to your foundation for a dewy look

If fresh, dewy skin is your goal, try mixing a few drops of our Organic Face Serum with your foundation to give you that glowing finish from your base.

You can see this in action over on our Instagram.

6. Conditioner crème as a hair mask

Our refillable and natural Conditioner Crème was one of our most greatly-anticipated launches of 2023 – and for good reason!

Intensely nourishing, this conditioner pampers the scalp while enhancing hair thickness. Rich in vitamin C from upcycled orange peel wax, this product helps to improve hair strength – reducing the likelihood of breakage and split ends.

Leave this conditioner on your hair for 10 minutes, letting it sit as a hair mask. This gives your locks an extra boost, allowing the hair-loving ingredients such as rosemary oil and bamboo extract to get to work.
